What we collect
- The address you search — sent to Google's Places API to resolve it, and used to look up public assessment data for that property.
- Your email address — required before you can download or send a report, so we have one real record of who received a copy, and (if you opt in) so we can send a filing-deadline reminder.
- The owner name you enter — used only to pre-fill the owner/ petitioner field on the government appeal form we generate for you.
- Any values you type — your own estimate of market value, or a current tax amount, if you enter one.
- Basic technical data — standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, timestamps) generated automatically by visiting the site.
Why we collect it
Solely to operate the Service: resolving your address to real public data, computing an over-assessment estimate, generating and delivering your report and any pre-filled government form, and — only if you check the box for it — reminding you before a real filing deadline. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not build behavioral profiles about you.
Who we share it with
We share data only with the services needed to run the product:
- Google (Places API), to resolve the address you search.
- Our email delivery provider, to send a report to the email address you provide.
- Public government data sources and open-data portals we query in real time (we send them the address/parcel identifiers needed to look up public records — these are the same government agencies whose already-public data we're displaying back to you).
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
How long we keep it
We keep a record of report requests (the email, owner name, and the data snapshot used to build your report) so there's an audit trail of what was generated and sent, and so a deadline reminder you opted into can still be sent later. You can ask us to delete this data at any time — see "Your choices" below.
Your choices
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop sending you deadline reminders, by contacting us at the email address you used to reach us through the Service. If you are a California resident, this includes the rights the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you over personal information we hold about you (we do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front). Residents of other states with similar privacy laws have equivalent rights with respect to their own information.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the data you give us, but no method of storage or transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
Children's privacy
The Service is intended for use by adult property owners and their authorized agents, not by children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time; the "Effective" date above reflects the latest version.
Contact
Questions or requests about your data can be sent to the email address you used to contact us through the Service.
